Prison Chaplain Allegedly Caught in Sex Act with Inmate

A 70-year-old Catholic deacon working as a chaplain at a minimum security prison in New York City was arrested for allegedly paying an inmate on at least two occasions to perform a sex act on him.

Frank DeTucci was caught by a guard with the inmate Sunday at the Queensboro Correctional Facility in Long Island City, according to media reports.

At the time, DeTucci had a total $353 on him, some of it in his wallet and the rest in his shoe.

When questioned, the elderly chaplain confessed to having paid the same inmate twice before to perform the sex act on him in his office, sources told the New York Post.

DeTucci, who has been working with department of corrections for nearly 30 years, was charged with engaging in a criminal sex act and sexual misconduct, among other charges. If convicted, he could spend four years in prison.

The chaplain was reportedly paid $79,819 a year to perform priestly functions at the prison. He was put on leave without pay, a prison spokeswoman told the New York Post.

DeTucci has also been serving as a deacon at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Queens for several years.

Monseigneur Kieran Harrington, Vicar for Communications at the Archdiocese of Brooklyn, told The Christian Post Wednesday that DeTucci has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
