Pro-Lifers to Mark Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

Pro-life groups and churches will observe “Sanctity of Human Life Sunday” this month.

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is held on the closest Sunday to the anniversary of the Jan. 22, 1973 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to legalize abortion in the Roe v. Wade case.

On Jan. 21, pro-life advocates promote the sanctity of life through sermons, Bible studies, brochures on adoption, music and other tools.

There are about 46 million abortions a year worldwide and about 126,000 abortions a day, according to The Alan Guttmacher Institute, a pro-abortion organization. According to Focus on the Family, 44 percent of all American women will have an abortion at some point in their lifetime. More than a million American women will have an abortion this year.

“Abortion not only kills a baby, it torture them,” said Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America, in a statement early last month following the House’s failure to pass a measure that would have required women seeking abortions to be informed that some fetuses as young as 20 weeks old feel pain.

“Women deserve full information before making a life-altering decision that will end their baby’s life and haunt them forever.”
