'Prometheus 2' Release Date, Spoilers: Director Ridley Scott Talks About A 'Fresh Monster'

For the past months, not much has been known about the progress of Ridley Scott film "Prometheus 2" until this week, when the 76-year-old director started dropping some hints about the alien prequel/sequel with a revelation that the flick will feature a "fresh" monster.

The English helmer spoke with The Australian to promote his upcoming film "Exodus: Gods and Kings." Scott told the publication the follow-up will be "fresh" and is "getting away from gods and dragons..."

"If I see one more dragon I'm going to shoot myself. Stop the dragons," he said.

Dark Horizons said that by dragons, Scott was referring to H.R. Giger's creature from the original and "calls it a beastie."

"The alien's real which is why it's probably one of the scariest monsters in film history," the "Blade Runner" director was further quoted as saying. "So with Prometheus 2 what I'm trying to do is reintroduce a fresher form of alien in the third act."

When asked about the creature he mentioned, Scott admitted that it was "awfully close to the alien" featured at the end of the original 1979 "Alien."

"One can argue that the best parts of Prometheus were the ones that enhanced the Alien universe and made it bigger - and actively moving the sequel away from that kind of stuff isn't exactly what some fans want to hear," Cinema Blend commented on the report. "Hopefully the movie can reach some kind of middle ground that will appeal to both sides."

The interview ended with Ridley Scott confirming that "Blade Runner 2" is currently in the works, saying, "It's written (and) it's really good."

"Prometheus 2," which will once again star Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender, is slated to hit the theaters on March 4, 2016.
