Today Sony shared that the PS4 has captured over 6.5 million shares since its launch.

"There have been more than 6.5 MILLION shares captured from the PS4. That's pretty amazing! Are you liking the share button? #4ThePlayers," PlayStation Europe Tweeted.

The share button lets gamers record videos and screenshots of their gameplay and upload them to Facebook, Twitter, or Livestream.

Sony has sold over 2.1 million PlayStation 4's since the console launched on Nov. 15.

"It's an impressive and record-setting accomplishment for our company and for our industry, and we couldn't have done it without you," Andrew House, Sony Computer Entertainment president and CEO wrote on the PlayStation Blog. "I want to personally thank PlayStation fans, both old and new, for your vote of confidence. The best part: the PS4 journey has just begun. In addition to an incredible lineup of PS4 games from the best developers in the world, we will continue to introduce valuable new features and services to PS4 in the months and years ahead."

The console has launched in 32 countries all over the world with their initial one million sold in 24 hours taking place solely in North America.
