Nadal will desperately want to take the U.S. Open this year - the 27-year-old has won this Grand Slam only once before, defeating Djokovic in 2010.

A victory for Nadal against Gasquet and a win for the World No 1 in his semi-final would see them meet again on Monday for the final.

Meanwhile, Gasquet made it to this semi-final after defeating World No. 4 David Ferrer in a five-set thriller.

Gasquet actually took a two set lead before the Spaniard made a comeback to level the game at 2 sets each. However, the 27-year-old Frenchman fought back to just get over the line and make this semifinal winning 6-3, 6-1, 4-6, 2-6, 6-3.

Nadal and Gasquet have met 10 times, Nadal winning every time. The World No 8 has only ever taken three sets off the Spaniard, and he will need to be in fierce form to change that today against an on fire Nadal.
