Randy Travis' Hit Nabs Country Music Award - Song of the Year

Nashville, TN- At the 37th Annual Country Music Association award ceremony, Word Records artist and Country music legend Randy Travis claimed the “Song of the Year” honors for his No.1 radio hit “Three Wooden Crosses.”

"Three Wooden Crosses", from the gold-selling Rise And Shine album, was penned by songwriters Doug Johnson and Kim Williams. "Three Wooden Crosses," also was recently named "Song Of The Year" by The Nashville Songwriters Association. The single achieved No. 1 status at country radio (Billboard, R&R and Music Row charts) earlier this year, an unprecedented achievement by a Christian record label on the Country charts. Travis himself is a five-time CMA Award winner himself, two of which were for "Male Vocalist Of The Year".

"It's been exciting to watch Randy's success story unfold over the past year," says Mark Lusk, senior vice president of marketing and artist development at Word Label Group. "Randy believed in the power of this song from the start and it's wonderful to see so many people impacted by it."
