Ray Allen impressed by Steph Curry, says Warriors star is in his own category as a shooter

Semi-retired shooting guard Ray Allen once held the distinction of being one of the greatest shooters ever in basketball. But with the emergence of Golden State Warriors' Steph Curry, Allen himself admits that the reigning NBA MVP is in a league of his own.

In a recent interview with SLAM, Allen said that Curry is "creating a lane all of his own" in terms of determining the greatest shooter of all-time. Interestingly, the statement was given even before Curry became the very first player in history to hit at least 400 three-points in a single season. According to FOX Sports, he already broke the record for the most threes in a season for the third straight year. It's should be pretty curious to figure out what Allen might add to that.

Anyway, here's an excerpt of the interview:

Based on what he's done, I think he has to be—he's on his way to being the best ever. It's always arguable, based on who's telling the story… He's creating a lane all of his own. People comparing him to me, to Reggie [Miller]. But I think Steph is in a category of his own."

The best thing about all this is the fact that Allen showed humility, giving credit to where credit is due. While some retired NBA greats didn't hesitate to take shots at Curry, he on the other hand took it upon himself to show how impressed he is, even though his claim as the greatest shooter is threatened by the man he's giving credit to.

While it may be true that Curry is currently a level beyond anyone else in basketball, he still has a lot to prove in his young career, which is probably why some still aren't sold about his greatness. Perhaps winning another championship and MVP this season will reduce his number of skeptics.
