Real Madrid Transfer Rumors, News 2014: Accepting Offers for Raphael Varane, Going for £19 Million

Real Madrid is looking to accept offers for Raphael Varane around the price of £19 million. Chelsea and Manchester United are said to be eyeing the player for the January transfer window. Apparently, Varane's limited playing time has opted the team to transfer him.

Chelsea is currently leading the race as boss Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the player. He had first signed the French center-back with Los Blancos in 2011 and calls him "the best central defender in the world" earlier this year.

To free up funds and space for Varane, Mourinho is considering letting Andre Schurrle leave before the year ends as the trading market opens up. However, Manchester United is also considering their options as Louis van Gaal is reported to be letting Anderson go, also to free up funds. Manchester may just need Varane due to their ailing defense this season.

The 21-year old defender is still growing as a player and in order to fully unleash his potential, he needs to play more games – which Real Madrid has not been able to provide this season at La Liga, with Carlo Ancelotti only having started the player three times this season.

Varane has already partially set to become a part of Manchester United but Mourinho is highly likely to fiercely fight for his signature, during this winter's trade opening.

£19 million for a player of his age and potential seems cheap, but for Chelsea and Manchester United, the price might just be a major bargain considering Varane's potential transfer cost in the future. The center-back is well suited to the physicality of the Premier League and has the technical skills to strive in England, should he consider either Chelsea or Manchester United.
