Real Madrid News: Los Blancos look to Liverpool for defensive star

Alberto Moreno is a target of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid's name has constantly been linked with a bid to try and lure Manchester United's David De Gea to a move to the Bernabeu. And now, rumors are circulating that there may be a shock move that links the La Liga squad to another player from the English Premier League.

Sources have revealed that Madrid are in the market looking for a new left back and publications like Tuttomercatoweb have linked Liverpool's Alberto Moreno to possibly move back to Spain.

Moreno's time with Liverpool has been up-and-down. He has yet to start this season and is unsure whether he has a spot in Brendan Rodgers' line-up.

He is a young player and it seems that he has a high ceiling and potential but his lack of chances at Anfield has seen him more frustrated.

Moving to the Merseyside from Sevilla, Moreno seems like he is ready to move back to his home town and a move to the Bernabeu may see him rekindle his stock that has taken a small hit during his tenure at Anfield.

This may be a good move for Real Madrid as well, as they are in need of a back-up in the position.

Fabio Coentrao was sent in to fill the void but failed to make his presence felt at the Bernabeu. He was recently sent on a season-long loan to AS Monaco and has possibly seen his last with Madrid.

Meanwhile, Brazilian Marcelo has been holding down the spot but has been inconsistent in his game.

As a result, he has been left out of the Brazilian national team.

Furthermore, he is older than Moreno which means that he may have reached his peak as a defender, making a move for Moreno makes sense as he can hold down the position for years to come.

For Moreno, a move to a team where he can reguarly play seems suitable since he wants to secure a spot in the Spanish national team. His spell on the sidelines at Anfield will not help his cause and if he moves to Madrid – and gets a chance to play in one of the most popular teams in the world – he can get the chance he needs to break through the national squad.
