'Red Dead Redemption 2' Map Leaked, Will Bring Gamers East of 'Red Dead Redemption 1' Setting

While Rockstar Games has remained mum about the next installment of its "Red Dead Redemption" IP, rumors about the game have been circulating the Internet. The latest one is a leaked map, which is rumored to be the map for the upcoming game. According to a report in Tech Radar, the map was posted by a NeoGaf user but was later taken down. The report however claimed that the map was authentic, based on the report's own anonymous source who is close to the development team.

The source confirmed that the map was indeed part of the game and it reflected the "very recent" art direction map for the game. Even though its original source had taken down the map, other users were able to capture it.

According to the report, their source also mentioned that the next game will not be a sequel but will be a prequel, with events occurring before the timeline of the first game. The new map is also said to be a map of a setting that is located east of the first game's setting.

Another report in VG 24/7 was able to show how the map in "Red Dead Redemption 1" connected with the recently leaked map, which overlaps near the Tall Trees and the Great Plains areas. The report also noted the absence of railroad tracks in the second map which corroborates the earlier report that the second game will be occurring sometime in the past. The map also features caravan camps, which indicates that there will be lesser settlements.

A new area called "New Bordeaux" is also included in the new map, which a report in GameSpot cited as an area that is related to another Rockstar game "Mafia 3." This may either mean a possible crossover between the two games, or just simply the presence of swamp areas. The map also features some small islands which may mean that the next game will have some sailing or swimming involved.
