The Red Hot Chili Peppers announced the initial run of U.S. shows for their first tour in four years on Tuesday.

This is the first tour for the band since the 2007 Stadium Arcadium tour. The band promptly entered a hiatus after the tour’s completion.

The I’m With You tour will send the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the U.K. and Europe as well as the U.S.

I’m With You is the band’s 10th studio release. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart back in August, and landed the top slot on the U.K. album chart. Critics had mixed reviews about the album.

L.A. Times music critic Randall Roberts said the album "[was] a mishmash, lacks a center and way too often feels duct-taped together from various points in the band's career."

Lead singer Anthony Kiedis spoke of the excitement that accompanied releasing the latest record.

"It's very dynamic, so we really have to focus on letting each song exist unto itself with all its beauty. There's a lot going on," Kiedis told MTV. "We felt pretty good about everything that we had done in terms of writing and recording, but no one really knew [how the warm-up shows would turn out] and it was just as good as one could have ever dreamt of ... It was like being 21 years old and not being able to sleep the night before a show."

The band has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the last two years, having recorded dozens of hits and amassing a large international fan base.

This will be the first full tour for guitarist Josh Klinghoffer who replaced long-time guitarist John Frusciante after the 2007 tour. Frusciante left to focus on a solo career.

The initial dates are as follows:

Jan. 25, 2011 in Charlotte, N.C.
Jan. 27, 2011 in Raleigh, N.C.
Jan. 28, 2011 in Columbia, S.C.
Jan. 30, 2011 in Duluth, Ga.
Jan. 31, 2011 in Greensboro, N.C.
Feb. 3, 2011 in Memphis, Tenn.
