'Reign' Season 3 News Spoilers: Upcoming Chapter Gets New Timeslot, Series Now Set in England

Fans of the hit historical fantasy TV drama seires "Reign" were left with something to think about while the show comes into a hiatus: will Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) take Catherine's (Megan Follows) offer that could help both of them in their plans to eradicate Mary (Adelaide Kane), the Queen of the Scots.

While they wait, The CW announced that the upcoming third season will be moving to a new night schedule in Friday this fall from its Thursday airing slot.

"'Reign' has a slightly older-skewing audience. Friday is a slight older-skewing evening," CW president Mark Pedowitz said on a Thursday morning press call. "We creatively believe in the show."

The brand new chapter of the series will now be set in England, according to executive producer Laurie McCarthy.

"It's called 'Reign,' and it can track any number of people's reigns. So what I like about it is that [Elizabeth's] been a character on our show, it feels like, almost since the beginning. And we've kind of painted this picture of her as somebody kind of lying in wait and a competitor of Mary's, but also a threat to her," she told Entertainment Weekly.

"I've been really excited to meet her. And what she also allows us is the ability to go to another court, which is what we're going to do in Season 3. We'll see the court of England, we'll see the Elizabethan court and see the people who surround her," the executive producer added. "So that's what I'm excited about; that allows the show to have even more scope."

The CW meanwhile released the official description for Season 3 of "Reign" which reads:

"Mary and Elizabeth are reluctant foes, but foes nonetheless, each positioned by birth and fate to destroy all the other holds dear."
