'Tekken 7' Release Date For Consoles Not Announced As Unconfirmed Rumors Cause Confusion

Over the past week, there were many reports concerning the release date of "Tekken 7" as being next year, 2016, based on a comment by Bandai Namco's Marketing Manager in Spain, David Fraile. However, on Twitter, Tekken game designer Michael Murray said that Fraile's comment has been taken out of context. Does this mean "Tekken 7" will not come out for consoles in 2016?

The rumors about the release date of "Tekken 7" for the consoles started when Koi-Nya posted on their page that Tekken 7 will be arriving soon by 2016. The post credited this news to Namco Bandai Entertainment-Spain Marketing Manager David Fraile.

But David Fraile clarified this and as BitBag reported, Fraile said, "It is true that we are planning various activities around the Tekken license. However, I want to clarify my comments made during MGW: Tekken is one of the largest license of NAMCO BANDAI and obviously we are working on bringing content related license to the West. At the moment, we are trying to bring the arcade version of Tekken 7 in Madrid, Barcelona, and other Spanish cities."

"Tekken 7" is a very popular arcade game and fans have wanted the game for their consoles too. Bandai Namco is working on a console version and has been promoting the game actively by introducing new fighters like a Saudi Arabian character called Shaheen and an eskrima fighter Josie Rizal from the Philippines, etc. It was also said that old players like Nina, Anna and Kuma would return.

Yibada reported that there are rumors suggesting that the console version of "Tekken 7" will also have Jun Kazama and Eliza. This can be ascertained when Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada teased Eliza coming back to Tekken 7 when he tweeted to a fan. He also said Jun is not dead, just "missing in action.

We may have to wait for an official announcement from Bandai Namco for the release date of the console version of "Tekken 7." Meanwhile, stay tuned to the latest news and updates here.
