Relient K 'Collapsible Lung' Released July 2 at No. 1 on iTunes

Relient K released their seventh album, Collapsible Lung through Mono vs. Stereo on July 2 and it debuted at No. 1 on iTunes.

"Frontman Matthew Thiessen always a savvy songwriter, has traded the group's animated pop-punk for more contemporary styles. There's a newfound sadness, too, one that sometimes resembles wisdom," said a review by USA Today.

It has been four years since their last full length studio album, and fans can get the album on iTunes for $7.99, which includes the track, "That's My Jam."

Physical copies and special edition vinyls will be available at the band's concerts this summer.

Collapsible Lung is written from the band's own experiences, and for the first time ever the band is including outside co-writers for the new material.

The songwriters include Fernando Garibay (Lady Gaga), Ari Levine (Cee Lo Green, Bruno Mars), Evan Bogart (Beyonce, Rihanna) and Tim Pagnotta (lead singer/writer for Sugarcult).

Producing the album are Paul Moak (Mat Kearney, Lovedrug, Seabird) and Aaron Sprinkle (OneRepublic, Anberlin, The Almost).

"This time around, we wanted to have a collection of songs that surprised even us," said frontman Matt Thiessen through MergPR. "To do that, we teamed up with several other writers in LA, Nashville, and New York City. This ensured that the new LP would be unpredictable. Each song includes a different combination of authors, yet there is an underlying thread that ties the tunes together thematically. We took an experimental approach creating the album, and we couldn't be more pleased with the result."

Relient K will be touring with The Almost and The Rocketboys.
