'Rent is Too Damn High' Video Released by Jimmy McMillan, New York Mayoral Candidate (VIDEO)

"Rent is too damn high" is the phrase going viral on the Internet this week after New York mayoral candidate Jimmy McMillan released a hip-hop music video, showing off his rapping skills.

The video, titled "Jimmy McMillan 'Rent Is Too Damn High' Anthem," is going viral on social media and has racked up over 50,000 views on YouTube.

McMillan, 67, is an American political activist and a Vietnam War veteran.

The former private investigator is best known as the founder of the Rent Is Too Damn High Party, a New York-based political party.

McMillan has run for office six times since 1993, using the Rent Is Too Damn High motto.

He had previous run for the mayor of New York in 1993. The next year, he ran for governor of New York.

McMillan is single but has two grown children, a 40-year-old daughter and 34-year-old son.

In the video, McMillan raps about high rent and that wages and education are "too damn low."

McMillan raps, "I'm Jimmy McMillan 2013. I'm running for mayor - come and run with me! I say the rent is too damn high.. I say the rent is too damn high."

A viewer commented on the video saying: "I'd move to NY to vote for you.. but.. rent is too damn high!"

Another person wrote, "New York had a cross-dressing mayor. Maybe it's time for a mayor who can rap."

In 2010, McMillan had released a series of songs on his website, using the phrases that brought him to fame.
