Here's what the game critics has to say about RE: Revelations 2 Chapter 1.

According to IGN, who gave a score of 7: "Episode 1: Penal Colony marks the start of a confident action-horror story which contains enough pulp to leave me eager for the next three episodes." The site also praised the "accomplished voice acting," as well as the "amusing interplay" between its characters.

Gamespot, who also gave the game a 7 out of 10, meanwhile started off by pointing out plaguing issues which results to the "inconsistent experience" offered during the first half of the game.

The level of difficulty for each puzzle was also discussed by the site.

"There are a few puzzles to solve during each scenario that are reminiscent of classic Resident Evil moments, but instead of having to consider all of your options and search for a solution, it's given to you in the form of a simple task. Ultimately, these moments feel like chores rather than puzzle solving opportunities," Gamespot wrote.

Games Radar also shared their opinion on the game by commenting on its "episodic structure" which seems a "natural fit" for a franchise that is already "mired in conspiracies and sinister plots."

"Revelations 2 treats its story like a TV show. We meet our heroes, learn about their plight, and gradually more mysterious characters and unanswered questions are introduced," according to Games Radar.

Same with IGN, GR shared the same view about how exciting the game series would be.

"Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is off to a great start. Its first episode offers up varied, cooperative action, while its numerous unlockables and Raid mode will keep you occupied until next episode two," they added.
