RESOLVED Conference Draws 2,300 from New Generation

The four-day conference on Jan. 13-16 drew some 2,300 Christians from across the nation to worship through praise, in-depth Bible studies, and guidance from leading Christian figures.

PASADENA, Calif. – College-age students and young adult Christians flooded the sidewalks and streets surrounding the Pasadena Civic Auditorium as they made their way to the second RESOLVED conference, which reached out to the new generation of Christians.

Hosted by the ministries of Grace Community Church, the four-day conference on Jan. 13-16 drew some 2300 Christians from across the nation to worship through praise, in-depth Bible studies, and guidance from leading Christian figures. The RESOLVED conference hopes to guide people of the twenty-first century to commit themselves to God and His glory.

“The RESOLVED conference proves that the Spirit of God is at work in this generation to draw them to the expository preaching of His Word at an age when skeptics claim they won’t embrace it,” RESOLVED Conference Director Jon Rourke said to The Christian Post.

Spearheaded by Rick Holland – the staff elder and director of Student Ministries as well as the College Pastor at Grace Community Church – the conference was launched in response to “the devastating effects of a culture that has turned away from God and the Truth,” according to the RESOLVED website.

However, attendees at the conference, the majority of which were age 18-32, were turning their focus back to God rather than away. Participants expressed that the conference helped renew their commitment to God and helped them realize the importance of the Word.

“Before it was somewhat difficult for me to place God in the center of my life with all the demands of school, extracurricular activities, and social life,” said Howard Wang, a junior at University of California in Los Angeles, during the RESOLVED conference. “But after coming to this conference, I am more excited about God – learning more about Him through Bible Studies and being more involved with the local Christian community.”

The name RESOLVED was inspired by the 70 resolutions or resolved statements of Jonathan Edwards – an American theologian whose sermons helped spark the Great Awakening – to commit his life to God and live strictly following Biblical teachings.

Dr. John MacArthur, pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church, called the conference “a highlight of my year and of my ministry.”

Last year, the gathering attracted people from 25 states and four countries.
