Rihanna Blasts Journalist Over Chris Brown Questions, Discusses Reconciliation

Rihanna recently blasted a British journalist for bringing up her 2009 domestic assault case against Chris Brown less than one month after the singer stopped following him on Twitter due to a reported feud.

During an interview for Esquire UK's June edition, the 24-year-old appeared to get defensive when the interviewer questioned the motive behind her recent collaboration with Brown for the hit song "Birthday Cake," according to The Urban Daily.

"And that's how f----- up society is. There's a lot of s--- y'all can't get over. Y'all holding your breath on a lot of stuff that doesn't matter. When you realize who you live for, and who's important to please, a lot of people will actually start living," Rihanna said.

"I thought people were gonna be surprised that we finally did a record together, but I didn't see how people could think it was a bad thing, you know? In my mind, it was just music," she added.

The journalist explained that some critics believe that Rihanna and Brown's recent collaboration "sent the wrong message" to fans because ultimately she went "back to someone who put [her] in the hospital" which did not sit well with the Bajan singer.

"I am never going to get caught up in that. I'm gonna look back on my life and say that I enjoyed it – and I lived it for me- and God. This is turning into a tacky interview. What do you really want to talk about? I'm not here to [talk] about messy s---," Rihanna shot back.

Brown, who is currently dating model Karrueche Tran, recently upset Rihanna with the lyrics in his remixed version of Kanye West's "Way Too Cold" song and although they pair unfollowed each other on Twitter, she remains confident about the possibility of a romantic reconciliation.

"If I went back to him [as a girlfriend], then that's a whole different discussion. And if I ever do, then that's something that y'all have to talk to me about when – if – that ever happens. Until then, look at it for what it is. I think a lot of people jumped to an assumption that was incorrect and they ended up looking stupid," Rihanna said.
