Rihanna celebrated her 25th birthday with her boyfriend Chris Brown in Hawaii and a source claims that he had a special gift planned for the singer.

The pair was photographed walking hand in hand along a sandy beach and despite recent claims that they had split up on Valentine's Day, they appeared to be in good spirits. Brown, who is said to be "proud" of Rihanna's accomplishments, vowed to make Feb. 20 a memorable birthday for the Bajan singer.

"Chris is hella proud of her. He loves his girl and wants today to be all about her and hope she has a better year than last," a source told HollywoodLife.com adding that he "has a 'special something' for her, and that can only mean one thing."

On Wednesday the "Diamonds" singer shared a series of "throw back" birthday photos with her 29 million Twitter followers, including one of her and Brown which was taken on her 20th birthday.

"#throwbackRiRi my surprise 20th birthday party!! Im an old b---- now! Thank God for His gifts and His endless mercies! #25 #MilestoneLife," Rihanna tweeted Feb. 20.

Friends and fans sent birthday tweets to Rihanna throughout the day. However, critics were stunned to see singer Katy Perry forward well wishes. The pair reportedly had a recent falling out over Perry's alleged disapproval of Rihanna's reconciliation with Brown.

"HAPPIEST 25TH BIRTHDAY to my baby girl @rihanna! I wish I could b there drinking Mai-Tais & telling haters to eat a d--- w/u!," Perry tweeted Feb. 20.

The 28-year-old singer, who arrived at Feb. 10 Grammy awards with her new boyfriend John Mayer, 35, spent much of last year's Grammys with Rihanna, 24. This year, though, Perry reportedly made last minute requests not to be seated near Rihanna and Brown.

"They aren't tight anymore because Katy doesn't approve of Rihanna dating Chris Brown," a source told Us magazine adding that Perry's seating request was "Such a headache!"
