Rihanna, the 25-year-old Barbadian singer, has allegedly hit a fan with her microphone while on tour and justified her reason for doing so.
During a recent tour stop in Birmingham, UK, the pop star was grabbed by numerous fans while walking through the crowd. Although the popular singer was accompanied by security, one fan would not let her go and she responded by striking the individual with her microphone, as seen on a video circulating YouTube.
An Instagram message has been making its rounds on the internet, with Rihanna allegedly explaining why she hit the unseen fan grabbing at her in the YouTube video posted by Diana Lahor. When one fan took to the social networking picture sharing website to question if she hit the person by accident, the singer reportedly reposnded.
"Purpose," Rihanna reportedly replied on Instagram. "That (expletive) wouldn't let me go."
The singer is no stranger for making headlines for her partying and brash behavior. However, Rihanna said she does not pay attention to the scrutiny and rumors surrounding her name.
"I don't read it anymore," she told V magazine previously. "I already have too many voices in my head right now! I don't have room for that other stuff."
The singer said that she chooses to tune out the negative reports so that she can focus on other things in her life.
"If I let that other stuff in, it'll take the space of productive (expletive), and that isn't good," Rihanna told V Magazine earlier this year.
Despite some scrutiny surrounding her name, Rihanna recently surpassed fellow singer Justin Bieber as the most viewed artist on YouTube. The singer boasts 8.734 million subscribers on her channel.
Rihanna's 77 videos on her VEVO channel have racked up 3.784 billion views, according to USA Today reports.
