Rihanna and Katy Perry have reportedly rekindled their friendship months after allegedly parting ways over Chris Brown.
The Bajan singer, 25, and Perry, 28, were reportedly spotted hanging out at Rihanna's May 7 concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The pair has not been photographed together in months despite previously revealing that they are "best friends."
"They hung out like old times and were catching up," one onlooker allegedly told Us magazine about Rihanna and Perry's reunion.
Brown, 24, recently confirmed that he and Rihanna split have split weeks after reports of a strained relationship surfaced.
"The way I look at it is … I'm always going to love that person, but people have differences, and people have different wants and needs. At the end of the day she's a young girl. I can't really be focused on wife-ing somebody that young … and I'm young too," Brown told Australian Radio DJs Kyle and Jackie O.
In November, it was claimed that Perry had ended their friendship because she did not approve of Brown. Rihanna reconciled with Brown in 2012 three years after he was convicted of assaulting her.
"They aren't tight anymore because Katy doesn't approve of Rihanna dating Chris Brown," a source previously said.
Rihanna and Brown split up in 2009 following their infamous domestic assault incident and Perry was reportedly furious over the reconciliation.
"They're barely talking and ever since the couple reunited, there has been tension between them. Katy has been spending a lot of time with pals Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart," a source previously told The New York Daily News' Confidential. "Katy fears Rihanna is making a huge mistake and doesn't want to be part of it."
Perry, who once referred to Rihanna as a "wise woman," was last seen publicly with the "We Found Love" singer at the 2012 MTV VMA awards Sept. 6 in Los Angeles.
Rihanna openly kissed Brown, who was seated in the audience, upon accepting an award, which for many fans was confirmation that the exes had reconciled. Perry revealed that she did not speak to Rihanna after the incident.
"We've had dinner, and that's about it, I didn't reach out to her after the incident," Perry recently told MTV. "I think she is doing fine. I don't know. Her personal life has probably already been blown out of proportion. I don't really have to go into that. I'm sure she probably wants a break."
