This is not the first time that the Grammy award-winning singer has spoken about motherhood. Rihanna appeared on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show last November where she spoke about the possibility of having children in the near future. When DeGeneres inquired about Rihanna's desire to have children the singer responded, "Yes, eventually. I mean absolutely."

While Rihanna said she believed that she had the ability to be a single parent, she did express a desire to have a complete family.

"I would prefer to, you know, have a full family," the singer said. "I'm pretty sure I could handle if I had to on my own but that's not what I'm striving for."

The singer's conversation with DeGeneres took place before Rihanna and singer Chris Brown revealed that they reconciled romantically after he abused her in 2009. Brown recently opened up about his relationship with Rihanna in an Entertainment Weekly report.

"Sometimes you row, you fight, with the one you love and things get said, stuff spirals. That night was the deepest regret of my life, the biggest mistake," Brown, 23, said in an Entertainment Weekly report. "But she loves me – what can I say? I'm forgiven … but, yes, I worked hard for it."

Despite public scrutiny, Rihanna said she is not afraid if her decision to reconcile with Brown turns out to be a mistake.

"Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake," Rihanna told Rolling Stone recently. "After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it."
