Rihanna's father is reportedly approving of a possible reconciliation between the Barbadian singer and Chris Brown, whose father reportedly warned him against getting back with the ex-girlfriend who he abused in 2009.

Ronald Fenty, Rihanna's father who has admitted to abusing the singer's mother in the past, said he has forgiven Brown for the altercation that involved his daughter three years ago. After reports have raised speculation about Brown and Rihanna attempting to pursue a romantic relationship with one another once again, Fenty said he would support his daughter's decision.

"Chris has matured a lot," Fenty told Grazia magazine. "Being a couple is all up to her."

This is not the first occasion that Fenty has spoken about moving on from the violent incident that took place between Brown and his daughter.

"Chris is a nice guy, and everybody's entitled to make mistakes in their life," Fenty told Heat magazine last March. "God knows how many I've made."

In his most recent interview with Grazia magazine, Fenty said people needed to move on from the past since the couple already has.

"I think everybody has to put the past behind them," he said. "And they seem to have done that."

However Clinton Brown, father of the 23-year-old R&B singer who was recently involved in an altercation at a New York City nightclub, said he has advised his son to stay away from Rihanna.

"I do not condone everything that goes on with Chris, but I love my son with all my being. I am always concerned about him… He can make his own decisions," Clinton reportedly said in a Star magazine report last month. "But, as a concerned parent, I would rather they not have any involvement."

Although the elder Brown said that his son insists he is only friends with Rihanna, the father expressed concern.

"He said, 'We are friends, and that's the extent of it.' But when you're that emotionally involved with someone and have a history, it could cause problems," he said. "Sometimes you need to cut the strings and move beyond the past."
