Research in Motion, the creator of the Blackberry, is working to implement a technology into its smartphones which some Christians would consider “The Mark of the Beast,” as spoken about in the biblical book of “Revelation.”
RIM and other companies such as Nokia and Android are planning to include near-field communications (NFC) technology in future devices, which will act as a replacement for cash, credit cards and card keys for buildings.
Jack Van Impe, a Christian Television personality who closely studies and speaks about end times prophesy, spoke about a Real ID chip on his TBN program. He indicates it could also possibly be “The Mark of the Beast,” since in the prophesy man cannot buy or sell without it which is exactly what the Real ID would be used for.
NFC bears a striking resemblance to a Real ID chip.
But unlike the Real ID chip, NFC will be utilized through a smartphone, not installed in a person’s body by using a “mark.”
NFC will allow data to be exchanged wirelessly over distances of a few centimeters.
Users would be able to leave credit cards and cash behind since with the technology they can pay for goods with their mobile phone.
It also makes it possible to swap business cards and photos with others, along with storing electronic tickets and downloading music.
Real ID’s will be mandatory if Jack Van Impe’s report comes to pass, while NFC will be exclusive to those who own smartphones with the capability installed.
The future could see all transactions made simply by using one device or microchip.
Jack Van Impe suggests that if the Real ID is implemented, those without it will not be able to buy or sell anything, which matches up perfectly to the Bible’s prophesy.
Revelation 13:16-17 states:
“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or name of the beast, or number of his name.”
