Ronda Rousey Vows to Return After Stunning Loss to Holly Holm

Ronda Rousey vowed to return after her stunning loss to Holly Holm during the UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia last Saturday.

UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey finally broke her silence after Holly Holm shockingly defeated her in the second round of UFC 193 on Saturday. Rousey was hospitalized overnight after she sustained a deep lip cut that needed plastic surgery, according to The Washington Post.

Rousey was immediately whisked to the hospital after she lost her UFC women's bantamweight title to Holm. Because of her injury, she was unable to give post-match interviews, CBS Sports reports.

It was previously thought that Rousey had a concussion and a broken jaw after her fight with Holm, but UFC President Dana White denied the speculations. On Sunday, the injured UFC fighter took to Instagram to thank her fans for their support and reassure them about her health.

"I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support. I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I'm fine," the Post quotes Rousey's statement on Instagram. "As I mentioned before I am going to take a little bit of time, but I'll be back."

Rousey had originally planned to take a break from her sport after the UFC 193, and her lip injury only served to cement that intention. But just after the Rousey-Holm fight, chatters about a rematch began to spread. Holm also confirmed to ESPN that she is up for a rematch, the report relays.

For Holm, the victor should be the one to give the rematch and she thinks people are really looking forward to it. She added that their second fight will be different but she will be ready for it.

For now, Ronda Rousey is giving her film career a bit more time. She is set to star in the action film "Mile 22," which will premiere in 2016. She will also be part of the remake of Patrick Swayze's "Road House."
