'Rookie Blue' Season 6 News, Update: Showrunner Tassie Cameron Says A Season 7 is Still 'Up in the Air'

Fans are eagerly waiting for the return of the hit police-procedural TV drama series "Rookie Blue" on ABC for its sixth season run. Meanwhile, an executive producer revealed some details about the future of the show.

Despite the wishes of ABC's chief Paul Lee for the crime-fighting drama to remain in the small screen, the Gemini Award-winning shownunner Tassie Cameron said that everything is still vague as of the moment.

"That question is still up in the air," Cameron told Huffington Post. "It's great to hear the networks are interested in keeping us around, it's such a vote of confidence and means an awful lot."

In the midst of rumors indicating that the upcoming season will be its last, Cameron still pretty certain that the Missy Peregrym-led series could still go for another installment. However, she admits that there are details that remain to be sorted out first.

"There are the actors, and there are contracts. ... I don't know. I think it's still up in the air. It's a conversation we'll be having in the next couple of weeks," the "Degrassi: The Next Generation" writer said.

As for the upcoming season, Cameron revealed to The TV Junkies that events will pick up "about a couple of weeks" after what happened in Season 5.

"That Ted McDonald (Shawn Doyle) bomb plot, you have not seen the end of that story. That's part of it, that 15 Division is starting to realize that something is going on within their own force, with their own people," the executive producer teased.

"Rookie Blue" Season 6 is slated to return to its Thursday, 10/9c timeslot on ABC this June 25.
