Rosamund Pike News: 'Gone Girl' Star's Personal Love Life as Tumultuous as Her Character's

35-year-old Rosamund Pike has been making rounds on numerous gossip sites lately. Her involvement in the latest movie "Gone Girl" with Ben Affleck is now holding the top spot at the U.S. box office for two weeks since it was released.

Although Gary Shore's alternative retelling of Bram Stoker's Dracula, "Dracula Untold," was released this weekend, the "Gone Girl" novel adaptation still pulled in $26.8 million on its second week versus the $23.5 million ticket sales of the latter, according to GuardianLV.

Another thing that catches the attention of the media about the English actress is her controversial love life held in comparison to her role in the movie.

"Gone Girl is the story of an unhappily married young woman who goes missing, leaving her husband (played by Ben Affleck) accused of murder. Yet compared with the dramas of Rosamund's own life, that's a pretty straightforward plot," the Daily Mail stated.

Her past "has all the ingredients for a blockbuster," they continued. Among the highlights of her tumultuous past relationships was her involvement with a co-Oxford student, Simon Woods, who ended their two-year relationship when "he [realized] he's gay."

Then there's the relationship between Pike and "Pride and Prejudice" director Joe Wright. The two got engaged in 2007. Unbeknownst to the director, she reportedly sent pre-wedding cards to dozen of friends and relatives. After learning what she did, Wright cancelled the wedding plans the week after.

"He is so appalled that he summarily dumps her," Daily Mail reported.

Pike, as of the moment, is still unmarried and pregnant for her second child with long-time partner Robie Uniacke, a mathematical researcher, businessman, and 18 years older than her.

Pike later on shared her views about marriage and having a partner in an interview with Spectrum magazine.

"People have ridiculous expectations of a mate. In my grandmother's day, you wouldn't expect your husband to fulfill the same need in you as your sister, or girlfriends, or colleagues at work. You'd have different needs met by different people," she said.

"Gone Girl" is directed by David Fincher and adapted by Gillian Flynn from her own 2012 novel of the same name. Pike plays the character named Amy Elliott-Dunne, Nick Dunne's (Affleck) missing wife.
