Roseanne Barr Creates a New Political Party for 2012 Election

Roseanne Barr, actress, comedian, writer and producer, has announced that she will run for U.S. president next year.

Barr first made the announcement on the Jay Leno show on Thursday night. The comedian insisted she was serious about Leno helping her attain the position.

"I'm totally serious...'Cause I want to be a part of the debates, because I want to represent the tax payer,” she said on Thursday night. “In fact, I'm choosing the tax payers as my vice president.”

Barr insisted that she strategically made the announcement on Leno’s show, to use the host’s influence.

"You know Jay, I decided that since you're the one that got Arnold Schwarzenegger elected as governor of California, that I wanted to make my announcement here on your show because I really wanted to ask for your support,” she said on Thursday night.

Barr also said she wanted to debate politicians from a tax payer’s perspective.

“I want to be a part of the debates, because I want to represent the tax payer,” she said. Although she would like to debate other politicians, Barr said she was not willing to join any democratic or republican parties.

Instead, she spoke about leading a new party to the White House.

"I'm not for either party because they both suck and they're both a bunch of criminals,” Barr said. “So I made up my own party. It's America's Green Tea Party."

Although she did not speak positively about politicians, Barr credited Sarah Palin for inspiring her to go through with her idea.

"You know, it's because of her that I decided to do a reality show," she said. "I have feral pigs that overrun my farm, and I'd like to shoot them out of a helicopter. But, um, that's kinda what got me thinking that I too should run for president, if she can....I feel like she's stealing my act, anyway."

Barr, who has maintained that she is not joking about participating in the next presidential election, took to her Twitter account on Friday to assure people that the Green Tea Party is what this country needs.

"I will deliver a speech to Washington DC in the name of the people of this country who do all the work--those who make less than 250K per year," Roseanne tweeted on Tuesday. "I am running for the Green Tea Party of America. I have the solution to every problem figured out, and it’s cheap and good."
