'Roswell' TV Series News: The CW Is Developing Show's Reboot
The 90's TV series is getting a reboot with a twist of tackling the issues of immigration.
"Roswell" is currently being developed for a reboot by The CW, Variety reports. Just like the original series that aired in 1999 on The WB and UPN networks, the reboot will be based on the young adult book series, "Roswell Hight," by Melinda Metz and edited by Laura J. Burns.
However, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the reboot of "Roswell" will have a twist of tackling immigration concerns.

According to the reboot's official logline, Shiri Appleby's Liz Parker — who is the daughter of two undocumented immigrants — will be returning to her hometown, Roswell, in New Mexico. Parker discovers that her teenage crush, Jason Behr's Max Evans, works as a police officer, keeping his alien identity in secret.
The two will then try to search where Evan's came from. However, they will discover that there is a more powerful alien presence on Earth and that the fear and hatred of the government and its people will come between the two.
One of the reasons the "Roswell" reboot might be tackling the controversies of immigration is because of how United States President Donald J. Trump is currently ending Barrack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
"The Originals" producer Carina Adly Mackenzie will serve as the "Roswell" reboot's screenwriter and executive producer. Mackenzie will be joined by Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank of Amblin Television and Lawrence Bender and Kevin Kelly Brown of Bender-Brown Productions as executive producers. The reboot series will be produced in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Aside from the love team of "Roswell," Katherine Heigl and Brendan Fehr also starred in the original series. However, there have been no announcements yet, confirming if the reboot will be using the same cast members from the original.
The premiere date of the "Roswell" reboot is yet to be confirmed.
