Rush Limbaugh: 2012 DNC 'Disaster for Democrats'

September 10, 2012|9:08 am

Rush Limbaugh has slammed the 2012 Democratic National Convention as being "one of the worst, flattest, most embarrassing days for a political party at its convention in the history in conventions" in a recent radio broadcast.

The radio host added that Democrats should not assume that President Obama is sure to be reelected, and that former President Clinton's endorsement did not help Obama's campaign.

"The media and a lot of Democrats think the election's over because of last night," said Limbaugh during his syndicated radio show referring to the DNC last week. "They think last night's convention was a home run, a grand-slam home run. I'm telling you, the truth is that, in terms of average Americans watching what's going on, yesterday and last night was an absolute disaster for the Democrats."

Limbaugh went on to describe Clinton's presence as a keynote speaker at the DNC in Charlotte, N.C. last week as "idolatry" of the 42nd President of the U.S.

"I'm telling you, they see Bill Clinton in a way that the vast majority of Americans do not," Limbaugh said of Democrats. "Any party that would bring Bill Clinton out and highlight him and Ted Kennedy while at the same time claiming to have love and devotion, respect for women, is insane."

Staunchly conservative, Limbaugh did not mention the Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown law school student who he referred to as a "slut" and "prostitute" for her testimony about birth control earlier this year.

He did note that last week's DNC revealed signs that the media could be turning on President Obama and referred to the harsh criticism found in The New York Times and Politico.

"I spent some time on the program detailing for you recent news stories from slavish state-controlled media that love Obama- New York Times and Politico," said Limbaugh. "The Politico talked about how this guy hasn't given a good speech in four years! The NY Times on Sunday ran a piece saying that everybody thinks the guy's cocky and arrogant. I said, 'What is this?' and it's as I told you."

Moreover, Limbaugh cited that if the media believes President Obama will not be reelected, that they would throw him overboard in order to save liberalism as an ideology.

"If they think things are going south, if they think they're going to lose, they would make sure that people understand it was Obama who blew it, not liberalism that was rejected, Not big government that was rejected, not spending that was rejected, not debt," explained the political commenter. "Not all the things that equal liberalism. None of that was rejected. Nope, it was Obama."

Limbaugh noted that the media will have no choice in the matter "because the ideology comes first."

"Obama will become the latest passing personality," he concluded.
