Ryan Gosling is taking a much-needed break from himself and the entertainment industry he's been a part of since he was 8 years old. The actor is now 32 and looking to find himself and discover what he was truly meant to do in life.

"I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does," Gosling told the Associated Press in an interview. "I've been doing it too much; I've lost perspective on what I'm doing. I think it's good for me to take a break and reassess why I'm doing it and how I'm doing it. And I think that is probably a good way to learn about that."

Gosling has at least 35 movie credits to his name- quite a feat for 24 years of acting. Even though he started out on "The Mickey Mouse Club," Gosling quickly grew up on the small screen before moving to film with the hit football movie "Remember the Titans." It wasn't until "The Notebook," based on the book by Nicholas Sparks, though, that Gosling became a household name.

Since then, he has appeared in films such as "Lars and the Real Girl," "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and the upcoming "Only God Forgives." He just wrapped production of an untitled project by Terrence Malick, so the actor will still be seen in Hollywood, at least on the big screen.

"There's a lot of pressure to be the lead of a film," Gosling explained. "I have done it. It's not my favorite way to work. The more opportunities I'm given, the more I learn about how easy it is to [expletive] it up. You fight for freedom and then you get it, and then you have enough rope to hang yourself. It's like trying to exercise some restraint because I do have so much freedom."

Gosling has not said specifically what he will do or where he will go during his hiatus.
