Samsung Chromebook 2014 Release Date Announced for April

The Samsung Chromebook 2014 model will have an April release date.

The successor to the 2012 version was announced by Samsung earlier this week. There will be two versions of the Chromebook including 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch models. The larger of the two will come with full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution with the other having 1377 x 768.

The two versions also come with different specs as the 13.3-inch model packs a 2.1GHz Exynos 5 octa-core CPU and a battery that can last up to 8.5 hours. It weighs 3.09. The smaller model includes a 1.6GHz Exynos 5 octa-core processor, 8 hours of battery life and is lighter at 2.43 pounds.

Both models feature 4GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 100GB of Google Drive storage, USB 2.0/3.0, HDMI out, a 720p webcam and a microSD card slot.

They also come with updated Chrome OS keyboards that feature "curved key caps" as well as what Samsung describes as "enhanced" audio/speaker systems.

They will begin shipping in April and the 13.3-inch version will come in black white and will be priced at $399.99. The 11.6-inch will only come in gray and sells for $319.99. They will all ship with a "productivity software package" that includes three apps with an English learning one for multilingual students called Little Bridge, a remote Android access utility called AirDroid Premium, and a to-do list utility known as Wunderlist Pro.

Samsung introduced the original Chrombook laptop in 2012 and the device was advertised as an affordable one that ran the Google software. Its first Chrome device was released only a year prior. Samsung stayed pretty quiet during 2013 and finally fulfilled the wishes of those who stayed patient throughout that time. These new models will feature much more impressive specs and will cost a bit more.
