Samsung finally confirmed the release of the White Samsung Galaxy S2 on Sprint otherwise known as the Epic 4G Touch on the carrier for Jan. 8.
This device has been rumored to be launching on the carrier since the middle of last month and Samsung finally made the news official in a recent press release.
“With a snowy winter sky in the forecast, Sprint and Samsung are getting ready to offer two new devices to keep tech-savvy enthusiasts warm: Samsung Galaxy S2, Epic 4G Touch in Frost White and M370 by Samsung in Pewter Gray,” the release stated.
It also states that the two new phones will make their debut in all Sprint retail channels, including Web Sales and Telesales on Sunday, Jan. 8.
The Epic 4G Touch in Frost White will retail with a new two-year contract or eligible upgrade for $199.99. “Decked out from head-to-toe, Samsung Epic 4G Touch will compliment your style while providing all the must-have wireless features,” Samsung said in the release.
These new features include 3G/4G connectivity, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a Super AMOLED plus 4.52-inch touchscreen display, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and visual voicemail.
For Sprint customers, using the Epic 4G Touch requires activation of one of the Sprint Everything Data plans, plus a required $10 Premium Data add-on charge for smartphones.
The M370 by Samsung with debut alongside the new Epic 4G Touch sporting new color as well and will be compatible with any current Sprint plan, including the affordable Talk plan with 450 anytime minutes for just $39.99. This device does not require the $10 per month Premium data add-on.
Its specs include a 2.4-inch LCD-Clam shell design, 1.3-megapixel camera, web browsing, Bluetooth and speakerphone.
