Samsung Galaxy Nexus vs. Samsung Galaxy S2 vs. iPhone 4S: Which Smartphone is the Better Buy?

The Samsung Galaxy S2 and the iPhone 4S are two of the most popular smartphones on the market.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Nexus may also be another highly coveted phone. However, with popularity comes large price tags; each of these smartphones retail between $199 and $399.

Below is a price rundown of the Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S2 and iPhone 4S, and the many specifications that owners say make them worth the money.

Galaxy Nexus: $299

The Galaxy Nexus, which is expected to release sometime in November, or "later this year" according to Verizon Wireless, will introduce many new features to the Android line.

Powered by Android 4.0, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich, the Galaxy Nexus features a new custom typeface called Robato, Face Unlock and new NFC technology such as the phone-to-phone sharing mechanism Android Beam.

The Galaxy Nexus is expected to sell for $299 with a two-year network contract.

Galaxy S2: $199 to $279

The Galaxy S2, released on the Sprint network in September, and on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks in October, features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display on the Sprint and AT&T versions. The T-Mobile version has a 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus display.

The T-Mobile version also features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, while most phones, including the Sprint and AT&T versions, run on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor.

The Sprint and AT&T version retails for $199 with a two-year network contract. The T-Mobile version retails for $279 with a two-year network contract, before the $50 rebate.

iPhone 4S: $199 to $399

The iPhone 4S, released on the AT&T, Verizon and Sprint networks in October, has undergone many software updates, such as a new operating system, faster processor, and the addition of a virtual personal assistant.

The 16GB model retails for $199, the 32GB for $299 and the 64GB for $399 with a two-year network contract.
