Samsung will have a pilot testing this week for the Galaxy Note 3 which will be attended by AT&T executives.

A prototype model of the smartphone-tablet hybrid will be demonstrated in front of a select panel that will include the Chief Marketing Officer for the major U.S. carrier, KoreaTimes reported. Both companies will also work on creating new marketing strategies for the Note 3 during this testing.

The publication also stated that the device will feature a 5.9-inch screen. Older rumors point to it coming with an LCD display.

Samsung has used AMOLED touch screens for the previous two Note models and now appears to be making a switch for the new version.

The company is currently unsure of what type of display to use for the device, and it is strongly considering giving it a high-quality LCD display from Sharp, SamMobile reported.

The S-Pen should be able to function well on an LCD panel, according to YouMobile.org, who also stated that LCD technology has improved greatly over the past few years. The only issue with an LCD panel would be its effect on the range of colors that will be available on the phablet.

The Galaxy S4's release provided some hints on the actual specifications that will end up on the Galaxy Note 3 when it is released later this year. The smartphone uses both the Exynos Octa-core processor or a quad-core chip depending on the market. The Note 3 will probably use the Octa-core in all of them.

Last year's Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note two both featured a quad-core processor, LTE capabilities, and HD displays. They also came in the same colors: Marble White and Pebble Blue.
