Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Release Date News: "Active" Coming to AT&T in November 2015?

Samsung may be releasing another smartphone as part of its "active" line this November, if recent reports are true. According to a Tech Times report, this time around, the Korean phone manufacturer has set its sights on its recently unveiled phablet, the Galaxy Note 5. This will be the first time that Samsung will make an active version of its large-screen flagship phone.

The new phone called the Galaxy Note 5 Active, will reportedly arrive in November, and will be exclusive to U.S. wireless carrier AT&T.

The new device is rumored to have a bigger capacity battery at 4,100 mAh, compared to the 3,000 mAh battery on the recently released Note 5. The battery will still be non-removable, however.

The Galaxy Note 5 was unveiled by Samsung during its recent Unpacked event in New York, and the flagship phablet continued the same metal and glass design that Samsung has been aiming for, for its mobile devices recently. What is notable in the Note 5 also is its ejectable S Pen stylus. According to another report in Forbes, because of Samsung's design changes, the Note 5 no longer has a removable battery and a microSD expansion slot which were preferred features in previous Note models.

Aside from the hefty battery upgrade, the Note 5 Active is also said to feature IP68 dustproofing and waterproofing and will likely be made of durable plastic rather than the usual glass and metal on other flagship phones. This was the case when Samsung released the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active in June. Buttons may also need to be added to replace the control keys that are usually found at the bottom of the device. All of this may be necessary to make sure that the device will indeed satisfy the needs of its target market.

AT&T is reportedly the exclusive carrier of the Note 5 Active, which is rumored to be released in the early part of November.
