Consumers can now get their hands on the device as it goes live for purchase today in the US, as well as in Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, the UAE, and Korea. The model arriving in the US comes in three colors—Black Onyx, Silver Titanium, and Coral Blue.

Device specifications

Being a business-oriented phone, the Galaxy Note 7's specifications meet the most extreme needs of any heavy user.

The device sports the company's latest 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with Quad-HD resolution (2560x1440). Similar to the latest Galaxy S lineup, the US version of the Note 7 is powered by Snapdragon 820, Qualcomm's most powerful mobile chipset to date.

RAM will be at 4GB, while internal storage is fixed at 64GB, with no other storage options. Expandable storage makes a comeback through a microSD card slot, a feature notably absent from the previous version.

The Galaxy Note 7 sports the company's latest 12-megapixel rear sensor with an aperture of f/1.7. A 5-megapixel sensor for the front snapper is included. It also dons a 3500 mAh non-removable battery, which the company claims to be capable of up to 14 hours of Internet usage time. It comes with wireless charging via the new USB Type-C port

The Galaxy Note 7 runs on Android Marshmallow, with Samsung's own TouchWiz UI on top.

Galaxy Note 7 unique features

IP68 certification, which trickles down from the S lineup, makes the Note 7 dust proof and water resistant. The Edge screen also makes the cut as the screen edges bleed through the bezels. The S-Pen, Samsung's own stylus, gains new features and a more sensitive pen tip.

The new Iris Scanner, in addition to the fingerprint reader, unlocks the phone in seconds even in dark environments.

Samsung releases other devices

The Galaxy Note 7 comes to the stores with Samsung's companion devices. The Gear VR is the company's new iteration of the virtual reality headset. The Gear 360 is a camera that allows users to take 360-degree shots and photospheres. Both devices are compatible as attachments to the Note 7.

Samsung also unveiled the Gear IconX, a set of wireless earbuds. There is also the Level Active, a sweat-resistant and lightweight set of earbuds for the fitness conscious consumers.

Samsung Connect Auto is Samsung's latest car technology that creates hotspots in which up to 10 devices can connect to.

Pricing

Samsung's online and physical stores sell the unlocked version of Galaxy Note 7 for $849. Users may also purchase the device from major US carriers, with price ranging from $850 to $880, with two-year contracts.
