Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date, Specs Rumors: 2014 Launch Unlikely, Delayed for a Major Overhaul

With the apparent lukewarm response for the Galaxy S5, which was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress this year, the Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd will unlikely to release their next flagship device before the first quarter of 2015, according to reports.

The technology giant was rather pressured to make the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S6 worthy of the wait and more possibly to "exceed consumer expectations," Valuewalk.com reported.

Sturdier, Metal Wrappings

Now that Samsung was able to appease their user's need of a sturdier, metallic frame through their recently-launched Galaxy Alpha, it's a great possibility that the next-gen Galaxy S might the don the sought-after metal casing.

More Powerful Processors

A number of sources, including Tech Radar, pointed out that the forthcoming flagship smartphone could either come with either Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 or 810.

"The Snapdragon 808 is a six-core 64-bit processor with support for 2K screens, while the Snapdragon 810 is an octa-core 64-bit chip which can power screens of up to 4K resolution and includes an Adreno 430 GPU, which is said to be 30% faster than the Adreno 420, so either way it should be in for a boost," the site suggested.

Better Display

Rumors have circulated that Samsung was recently working on 2K and 4K display technologies. If leaks of a Snapdragon 810 are true, then a 3840 x 2160 display could be on the way.

Better Cameras

There are mixed speculations regarding this feature. Christian Post reporters said that a 16MP rear camera could be expected, while Air Herald maintains their claim of a 20MP snapper.

Other Improvements

Sources have further suggested that upon learning their mistakes from the Galaxy S5, Samsung will probably make huge improvements for the forthcoming smartphone. This includes high-end double stereo speakers, 64-bit processors, better batteries, and much more.
