Samsung Galaxy S7 News: New Phones To Be Showcased At Unpacked Event February 21, Release Rumored For March 11

Samsung has made it official – the Korean manufacturer is revealing its next flagship phones during the Unpacked event on February 21, in Barcelona, which is a day before the start of the Mobile World Congress. According to a Tech Times report, the next flagship devices are also rumored to have a March 11 release date.

Along with the announcement of the Unpacked event, the company also released a video titled The Next Galaxy, which shows a man using a Samsung Gear VR unit, who in turn sees a three-dimensional blue box that is speculated to contain the next Samsung Galaxy devices.

Even before the devices are launched, rumors have already been circulating about its technical specs. According to a Forbes report, one of the main features of the upcoming devices are its bigger batteries, with the Galaxy S7 having a battery that is rumored to be 20% larger than that of the Galaxy S6, from 2,550 mAh to 3,000 mAh. The Galaxy S7 Edge's size will also get bumped to 5.5 inches and will have a huge battery increase from what used to be 2,600 mAh on the S6 Edge to 3,600 mAh on the S7 Edge. The report speculated that these new changes may spell doom for the iPhone 7 if Apple does not improve on battery life.

The Tech Times report also cited a leaked presentation on the upcoming Galaxy S7, which indicated that the new flagship devices will be released in the market by March 11. A journalist apparently shared the news via Twitter, with the tweet: "Mark your calendar: the first European rollout for #GalaxyS7 family starts on 11/3."

Samsung traditionally releases its new devices on a worldwide scale, so if the report is true, this may also mean that the devices will be available elsewhere outside of Europe.

Samsung is set to unveil the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge on February 21, which are expected to be "top-of-the-line technological powerhouses," according to Forbes.
