Samsung Galaxy S7 Release Date, News: Q3 Outing Date Rumors Debunked, Unveiling to Coincide With MWC

Word on the street suggests that Samsung's next flagship, the purported Samsung Galaxy S7, might be making its way to the public later on this year.

The rumor, if there's any truth in it, would put the South Korean tech giant out from the usual Mobile World Congress unveiling pattern. A report from Phone Arena said that this might not really be the case at all.

Citing a source within Samsung, the publication reported that the next "S" model of the Galaxy series "will coincide with MWC as always."

"The company remains committed to launching products in pre-determined launch windows, which includes the S series," a person from the company's marketing team revealed.

Sources further clarified that even though there will be no S7 in the succeeding quarters of 2015, Samsung won't let its competitor, Apple, get the whole attention. In a report from MobileBurn.com, it is indicated that Samsung might put up an "updated version of the Galaxy S6" which will be announced soon.

As for the upcoming reiteration of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus, rampant speculations suggest that the S7 will be sporting an iris scanner, which will act as the device's primary mode of security.

It won't necessarily come out as a big surprise if Samsung will integrate the said functionality on its next flagship since iris scanning technology has already been used in select high-end devices in Asia. Given its status as one of the leading manufacturers of mobile devices and technology, the Galaxy Note 4 maker won't certainly allow itself to be left out in the competition.
