Samsung Galaxy S7 Release Date Rumor: Pre-Order Available On Feb 21, To Ship Three Weeks After

With the official unveiling of Samsung's next line of flagship devices, the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge, just less than two weeks away, the Internet is filled with rumors and reports about when the devices will be released in the market and where. Several reports mention the same release date, which is March 11 or about three weeks after the launch date.

According to one report in Android World, insider sources revealed that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be available for pre-orders on the date of the launch, February 21. It also reported that the end of the pre-order period has been scheduled for March 10, indicating that the units will start shipping or will be released to the market on March 11. Earlier reports point to the same release date, but mentions that the date only applies for the United States. The recent report, however, talks about the release in another market, the Netherlands, which may signify that Samsung is looking at a simultaneous global release of the devices. This is not so far-fetched because the Galaxy Note 5 was also released on a global scale.

GottaBeMobile, on the other hand, reports that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge pre-orders will come with interesting freebies. According to the report, anyone who pre-orders any of the two devices will be getting a free Samsung Gear VR (virtual reality) headset. The headset is valued at $99 and because of the novelty of the technology, it is considered to be a popular product.

Finally, the report also says that both devices will be available with 32 GB internal storage and will come in three color variants: Blueish Black, Gold and Silver, which is applicable in most regions including the Netherlands.

What is confirmed so far is that Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge on February 21, during a special Unpacked event before the start of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Most of the specs that have been circulating online are mere rumors because Samsung has been keeping details under wraps. Consumers will have to wait until the official announcement to find out whether these flagship devices are worth the wait.
