Samsung Galaxy S7 Specs Rumors; Next-Gen Android Flagship Being Testing Now?

Samsung's Galaxy S series is among the most popular lineups on Android. Whether you have been a fan for years, or just months, you surely would have heard already Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones, which many argue to be the most stylish handsets ever released this year.

In fact, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge won best design at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year.

And while the entire Android world is already preparing for an alleged Galaxy Note 5 announcement in a few days, it seems the Korean manufacturer is busy developing and testing the upcoming flagship device of the S series.

Known as the Galaxy S7 (based on Samsung's naming scheme), the Android smartphone is reportedly testing the latest Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 820.

According to a report by Phone Arena, the leak came from an alleged document released on Chinese social media website Weibo. The Galaxy S7, dubbed Jungfrau, appeared on the file which pertained to devices that will undergo testing for Android M, which is the unannounced version from Google.

The device was listed as Qualcomm MSM8996, and was referred as "hero" in the document, further cementing rumors and speculations that this will indeed be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7.

However, it is worth noting that the Korean manufacturer has opted for a Qualcomm Snapdragon, when its most recent flagships have the company's own Exynos chipsets. It looks like the company wants to test the device longer in order for Snapdragon 820 to work without facing any overheating issues, which have plagued the rumor mill since the start of the year.

Moreover, the report stated that the Samsung Galaxy S7 could be ready a little earlier than Galaxy S6 in terms of development. This could mean that the next-gen device would be released earlier, probably during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January.
