Samsung Galaxy S8 Rumors: To Get Exynos 9 Chip? Might Be More Expensive Than Galaxy S7

It looks like the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8 will also be home to the Exynos 9 chip, which has recently been announced by the South Korea-based tech giant.

Samsung took to Twitter to announce the arrival of the chipset "soon." This had CNET believing that the latest Exynos offering will be used on the Samsung Galaxy S8, which will see the light of day next month.

According to the publication, it is likely that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will house the Exynos 9 chip while there will also be a version powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.

Samsung did the same with its previous flagships except for the Samsung Galaxy S6, which only came with the Exynos processor since the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset was reputed to have overheating issues.

That being said, it is highly likely that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will also house the Exynos 9 processor. This version should be offered in select regions. However, at this time, nothing is confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, it is being reported by Wall Street Journal that the Samsung will enlist Sony for the Galaxy S8 batteries, making the Japanese company the third supplier of the component along with Murata Manufacturing and Samsung SDI.

A report from SamMobile, on the other hand, revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will come in black, gold and orchid gray colors.

The information comes from a leaked database screenshot that details the pricing of the flagship in Ukraine. When converted to U.S. dollars, it would reveal that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be priced at $950 while the Plus version is at $1,050.

This means that the flagship will be far pricier than its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S7. However, with no way to confirm this information yet, users are advised to take it with a grain of salt.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus will be unveiled on March 29.
