Samsung Nexus Prime Release Date: Trailer With Ice Cream Sandwich Launched (VIDEO)

Keeping in step with its competition, Samsung has released a teaser trailer for its next smartphone the Google Nexus Prime just hours after the iPhone 4S was unveiled at Apple's "Let's Talk iPhone" media event.

The trailer, captioned "Something Big is Coming" depicts various matches such as cookies and milk, newspapers and coffee, and wine and candles, then hints at the next "perfect combination," which could be the Nexus Prime and Android's upcoming OS, Ice Cream Sandwich.

The company is hosting its own media event called "Samsung Mobile Unpacked: Google Episode" on October 11, where the Nexus Prime and Ice Cream Sandwich are expected to be unveiled.

The trailer ends with a horizontal shot of a smartphone, which sources say is the Nexus Prime, and also details the event's information.

Commentators note that smartphone in the trailer matches recently leaked photos and specs of the Nexus Prime.

According to the leak, first reported on by GSMArena, the device will have a 4.6-inch SuperAMOLED display with a 720p HD resolution, a 320 ppi visible pixel density and a pixel resolution of either 1184x720 or 1280x720.

The Ice Cream Sandwich OS was recently leaked when an eBay shopper allegedly bought a Samsung Nexus S device that was powered by the new OS. The shopper leaked video of the OS to Engadget.

The leak has revealed that the Nexus Prime may feature a Facial Recognition Lockscreen and that Ice Cream Sandwich’s other specs may include a Movie Studio app, an app called "People," which is speculated to be a "Contacts" update, panoramic photo option as well as "Backup" and "Reset" options.

Many are considering that the Nexus Prime could be the next "iPhone Killer," as it may feature the wide screen that was proposed for the iPhone 5 before Apple's unveiling, among several specs that are not found on iPhones.

Commentators also suggest that Ice Cream Sandwich, which is supposed to be compatible with both smartphones and tablets, could also outdo Apple's recently unveiled iOS 5.

Many Apple enthusiasts were disappointed at Apple's unveiling of the iPhone 4S, as they were hoping the iPhone 5 would be released after many months of corresponding speculation.
