Samsung Galaxy Note 5, S6 Edge Plus Release Date, Specs Rumors: Aug. 13, 2015 Unveiling Scheduled
Samsung just confirmed that something big is happening on Aug. 13. Calling it a "Galaxy Unpacked" event, the Korean company made the announcement through their Twitter account Tuesday with the text "Join us for the next Galaxy Unpacked," with hashtags #nextisnow and #GalaxyUnpacked and a link to the site event.
Samsung's webpage about the event cited the venue at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, New York City as well as the link to the Samsung Mobile Channel on YouTube and the Samsung Tomorrow link where fans can catch the livestream. The event is said to start at 11 a.m. EDT.
Engadget speculated that Samsung intentionally scheduled their Unpacked event earlier than September to head off what Apple is planning to unveil during that month. Traditionally, the Korean phone manufacturer has used the tech conference IFA that is held in September of every year in Berlin as the venue for launching new phones and devices.

Last year, IFA 2014 was where Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge. This year however, it seems that they have decided to jump the gun and moved up their schedule to a month ahead. Apple is likely to introduce the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in September.
Although the announcement was vague about what devices will be unpacked, based on recent leaks, it is likely that Samsung will be unveiling the next generation Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. Both phablets are said to be Samsung's response to the iPhone 6s Plus.
According to a Tech Times report, the Galaxy Note 5 will have an advanced S Pen Stylus and a Quad HD Super AMOLED display, while having extra processing power with the Exynos 7422 and 4 GB of RAM. The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus on the other hand is much like the S6 Edge, except this device has a dual-curved display which is also Quad HD. The Edge Plus, however, will not have S Pen support.
