For Phoenix, they find themselves fourth in the Pacific Division with a 12-21 record and they are trying to chase the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Sacramento Kings in the standings. The only team the Suns are above right now are the Los Angeles Lakers that are clearly lost this season.
On the other hand, the Spurs have been excellent this regular season as they have a 27-6 record to lead the Southwest Division above tough teams like the Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets and the New Orleans Pelicans.
If not for the hot start the Warriors are currently on right now, the Spurs are easily the best team in the league for this season as they have shown that despite adding new talent to the team, they have the chemistry and have more than enough to win.
The two teams have met earlier this season and have a total of four scheduled clashes in the regular season.
In the first meeting, the Spurs won 98-84 thanks to a stellar game by Kahwi Leonard. The versatile star had 24 points, 13 rebounds and four assists to lead them to victory.
If Phoenix want to upset the Spurs, they must make sure that shutting down Leonard is the top priority.
