As the second seed, the Kings had the home advantage but the Sharks quickly dispelled that fact by being a little better on the night of the first two games.

In their first meeting, Los Angeles looked sharp as Jake Muzzin scored the game's first goal less than three minutes in the first period.

However, they could not stop Joe Pavelski as he tied the game at the 6:25 mark as they had a man advantage.

In the second period, the two teams continued to trade goals as the Sharks took the lead after Joel Ward connected with Brent Burns for the latter to score a goal.

However, the Kings had an answer as Jeff Carter and Trevor Lewis also found the back of the net to restore Los Angeles' lead – only for Tomas Hertl to tie the game after only 30 second of Lewis' short-handed goal.

And in the third period, the Sharks caught Los Angeles by surprise as they scored in only 17 seconds from the restart to take the 4-3 lead and eventually win the game.

In Game 2, San Jose kept the pressure and were rewarded with a goal early as Pavelski scored to give the Sharks an early 1-0 lead.

It was eventually doubled in the next period as Logan Couture scored the first in the playoffs as they had a power play and were now up 2-0.

Vincent Lecavalier trimmed the lead down to one with a goal for the Kings, but they could not find the game-tying goal and are now searching for a big road win to stay alive in the series.
