President Obama attended the music recital of his youngest daughter, Sasha, on Saturday night at the Music Center at Strathmore.

Obama took a night off from his presidential duties to support his daughter, who performed Saturday night during a dance recital. Sasha, 11, is Obama's youngest daughter. Her sister, Malia, is 14.

Despite growing up in the White House, Michelle Obama has said in the past that she works hard to make sure that her daughters have a regular life.

"I want them to be normal kids, just like you guys, polite and respectful and kind," she said in January, according to The New York Times.

Sasha was in the media spotlight a few months back when she was spotted yawning on camera during her father's presidential inauguration ceremony.

"Literally every time Sasha Obama is on screen, she isn't paying attention to anything and I really, really love that about her," Casey Turner of Manhattan wrote on Twitter after the incident.

The president agrees that his girls are just normal teens who have no time to spend with their old man.

"Now that my girls are getting older, they don't want to spend that much time with me anyway, so I'll be probably calling around, looking for somebody to play cards with me or something, because I'm getting kind of lonely in this big house," he said in January, according to The New York Times in January.

Strathmore is a nonprofit arts center that hosts events and classes. It is located in North Bethesda, Md. which is just a short ride away from Capitol Hill.
