Satanist Turns to Christ, Gets Born Again

A devil worshipper turned away from his ways and surrendered his life to the Lord by becoming Born Again. This is the story of Jacob McKelvy who helped found a Satanic church. He and his wife decided to follow Christ and got baptized at a Christian church in Houston, Texas.

McKelvy narrated that he experienced a spiritual crisis and decided to become a Satanist after his sister died from a snakebite.

"I was born and raised Mormon and so I understood what Jesus Christ was and what God was and if they took my sister away I was going to go to the dark side," he said. "There was a lot of hopelessness and feeling of powerlessness that drew me to this."

In October 2015, McKelvy co-founded the Greater Church of Lucifer in his Old Town Spring home garage with 30 members. The church's symbolism was observed to have been heavy on Satanism with horned creatures, fallen angels, winged animals with hooves and a long-horned goat's head.

Christians protested the church's opening but some local ministers preferred to pray for its members. Then in August 2016, the unexpected happened. McKelvy walked into Spring First Church and looked for Pastor Robert Hogan who had been praying for him all along.

"I had this burning sensation to go in that church, so I did. Robert wasn't there that day but he called me back. We talked on the phone two hours and then we set an interview for August 11th and we talked for four hours that day and I ended up giving my life over to Christ," he told CBN News.

McKelvy now regularly gives a testimony and shares his experience in churches. Pastor Hogan continues to guide him and his wife to makes sure he becomes rooted and grounded in God's word and develop a solid spiritual foundation. Meanwhile, the Greater Church of Lucifer has closed.
