Scarlet Johansson Engaged? Rep Denies Rumors Despite Gold Ring (VIDEO)

Scarlett Johansson's rep has confirmed that the star is not engaged despite a gold ring spotted on the actress' ring finger.

Johansson has been seen wearing a gold ring on her engagement finger more than once. The latest spotting prompted rumors that the actress may now be engaged to journalist boyfriend Romain Dauriac. But despite an ongoing relationship, a rep for the actress has confirmed that the new gold ring in a recent gift that is "simply a piece of jewelry."

Johansson, who was married once before to Ryan Reynolds, has said in the past that she has no interest in being married again and "never thinks about it."

"It's really not important to me," Johansson told Elle magazine in January. "The only time I ever think about it is when people ask me, 'Would I get married again?'"

Johansson was married to Reynold for two years and despite her lack of desire to do it again, she said she enjoyed her previous marriage.

"I got married when I was young and it was incredibly romantic and I liked being married, actually. But it is different. It's hard to put into words, " she said.

In the same interview Johansson admitted to being in a happy relationship, but said that she did not find marriage necessary and was not looking forward to having children anytime soon.

"I'm not having kids any time soon," she continued. "I'm in a nice relationship, I'm working a lot and, like I said, it's not important to me."

"To me," continued Johansson, "being in a functioning relationship doesn't mean you have to be married."

Rumors that the actress was engaged to Dauriac began earlier this week. But a rep said Thursday that the actress is "not engaged nor close to being engaged." Reynolds recently married his longtime girlfriend, Blake Lively.
